DAY 01: NAIROBI – TSAVO EAST.

Pick up from your hotel/airport, safari briefing, and start off your journey.

 Depart Nairobi at 07.30 am and drive to the Tsavo East national pack which is renowned for its large numbers of elephants and the famous man-eating lions. Lunch is served on arrival followed by afternoon game-viewing drives.

TSAVO NATIONAL PARK

The sight of dust-red elephant wallowing, rolling, and spraying each other with the midnight blue waters of the palm-shaded Galana River is one of the most evocative images in Africa. This, along with the 300-kilometer-long Yatta Plateau, the longest lava flow in the world, make for an adventure unlike any other in the Tsavo East. The park forms the largest protected area in Kenya and is home to most of the larger mammals, vast herds of dust –red elephant, Rhino, buffalo, lion, leopard, pods of hippo, crocodile, waterbucks, lesser Kudu, gerenuk, and the prolific bird life features 500 recorded species.

DAY 02: TSAVO EAST – TSAVO WEST.

After breakfast, game drive en route to Tsavo West national park. Lunch is served on arrival followed by afternoon game-viewing drives.  Accommodation at Rhino Valley Lodge or Ngulia Safari lodge.

 

DAY 03: TSAVO WEST – AMBOSELI. 

After breakfast, drive to Amboseli national park, right on the border with Tanzania. This park affords everyone’s classic image of East Africa – herds of great animals moving across the dusty plains with the snow-capped peak of Mount Kilimanjaro rising straight up in the background. Mount Kilimanjaro is Africa’s highest mountain at 19,340 feet (5,895 meters). Although it is situated inside Tanzania, the best views of the mountain are from Amboseli on the Kenyan side of the border. The afternoon is spent game viewing in the majestic Amboseli.

Accommodation at Ol Tukai lodge or AA Amboseli lodge or a similar hotel/lodge.

 

DAY 04: AMBOSELI. 

Full day spent in Amboseli national park, famous for its wild game and the spectacular backdrop of Mt. Kilimanjaro. Here you will have the chance to see the Big Five while enjoying the comforts of your game drive. The day is comprised of two game drives, one in the morning and one in the early evening. Your driver’s keen eyes will come in handy while exploring the countryside.

 

DAY 05: AMBOSELI – ABERDARE

Early breakfast then drives to Aberdare national park, via Nairobi. After breakfast, drive to Aberdare Country Club for lunch. After lunch, you are transferred to THE ARK by the lodges’ own transport. Spend the night watching animals as they gather at the floodlit water hole. Night observation of animals at the lounge offers exciting animal viewing with easy photography and comfort. Night visitors expected are Rhinos, Elephants, lions, bushbuck, warthog, and night birds. You will find this a great way to introduce you to your safari.

 

DAY 06: ABERDARE – SAMBURU.

 Early breakfast then drives north to Samburu where the climate is drier and the land is semi-desert. Spend the next two days exploring the Samburu game reserve. Keep your camera and binoculars ready, as the wildlife is plentiful. See the thin-striped Gravy’s Zebra, reticulated Giraffe, blue-necked Somali ostrich, and Beisa Oryx, all species only found north of the equator. The long-necked Gerenuk, a graceful antelope, spends most of its time here in a bi-pedal stance seeking succulent leaves.

DAY 07: SAMBURU

Full day spent in Samburu with early morning and afternoon game viewing drives in this reserve, which covers 40 square miles (104 square kilometers). Samburu is also home to the third of Kenya’s giraffe species – the Reticulated Giraffe. This is also our best chance to see the blue-legged Somali Ostrich, the long-necked Gerenuk gazelle, and the straight-horned Beisa Oryx antelope. Accommodation at Sentrim Samburu Camp or a similar hotel.

 

DAY 08: SAMBURU – LAKE NAKURU.

 Early breakfast drive to Lake Nakuru with lunch en route. Afternoon game viewing drives at Lake Nakuru national park. This is a soda lake and is home to the greater and lesser flamingos.

Lake Nakuru. On the floor of the Great Rift Valley, surrounded by wooded and bushy grassland, lies the beautiful Lake Nakuru National Park. Visitors can enjoy the wide ecological diversity and varied habitats that range from Lake Nakuru itself to the surrounding escarpment and picturesque ridges. Lake Nakuru National Park is ideal for bird watching, hiking, picnic, and game drives.

DAY 09: LAKE NAKURU – MASAI MARA. 

Depart for the Maasai Mara game reserve, the northern part of the Serengeti and one of Kenya’s most favored game-viewing areas. It is the Africa of the imagination; endless reaches of acacia-dotted grasslands studded with hazy hills. Lunch is served on arrival followed by afternoon game-viewing drives.

Wildebeest Migration: Make sure you have your safari booked and planned out that includes the Maasai Mara. The wildebeest migration is nothing short of amazing. It is one of the things you have to add to your bucket list. Best time to be in Kenya for it is JULY – OCTOBER and witness thousands and thousands of wildebeest migrating. Although Kenya is a great year-round destination. Accommodation at Fig tree Mara or a similar hotel.

 

DAY 10: MASAI MARA.

Full-day game viewing drives at the Masai Mara with picnic lunch provided in the park. Game drives from sunrise and sundowner provides the greatest moments for game viewing in these mystic plains, a time when the soft red hues of the sun will give your photographs the clarity of the actual African savannah. Morning game viewing with a drive to the Mara River for a chance to see the wildebeest migration as well as the resident hippos and crocodiles

An optional visit to Masai Village for a cultural tour can be arranged on this after the day’s tour – $20 per person. Also optional hot air balloon ride can be arranged this morning, then proceed with your game drive – $430 per person.

 

DAY 11: MASAI MARA.

Full-day game viewing drives at the Masai Mara with a game drive from sunrise and sundowner providing the greatest moments for game viewing in these mystic plains, a time when the soft red hues of the sun will give your photographs the clarity of the actual African savannah. Morning drive to the Mara River for a chance to see the resident hippos and crocodiles.

 

DAY 12: MASAI MARA – NAIROBI. 

Morning game viewing drives before breakfast. After breakfast drive back to Nairobi to arrive around 16:00 pm to catch up with your flights
